Laser Hair Removal

Waxing, shaving, and plucking unwanted hair can get old. Over the course of a lifetime, most men and women will spend days removing hair from the face and body. Instead, many patients in the Boca Raton, FL area who are interested in removing unwanted hair for good often ask Dr. Marta Rendon about laser hair removal.

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a method of permanently reducing or removing hair in a specific area of the face or body. Laser devices continue to be popular in both aesthetic and medical dermatology, providing skin resurfacing, scar reduction, and hair removal. By using a specialized laser device, Dr. Marta Rendon of the Rendon Center can target hair follicles and damage them, keeping them from producing hair in the future.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Yes! Because the hair follicles are damaged, they are no longer able to produce hair. The device targets hair in the active growth phase, which is part of a cycle of hair growth. With each treatment session, patients will notice less and less hair in the area. It is important that patients also understand that in order to achieve full hair removal in a specific area of the face or body, patients will need to schedule at least four visits for laser treatments. These visits are often spaced several weeks apart to ensure all hair is treated during the active growth phase.

Is laser hair removal painful?

Before treatment, our team will apply a topical anesthetic to the skin in the treatment area. This will help numb the skin and reduce the mild discomfort that may be caused by the laser device. We want our patients to feel comfortable during their sessions, and will monitor comfort levels throughout the treatment.
